In the first century, there were not many different types of churches teaching and practicing many different doctrines the way there are today. Does that mean that Christianity has naturally matured into a richer, more diverse religion, or does the development of all these varying churches with different doctrines actually constitute a regression from the purity of the gospel once delivered for all the saints?
